ZU-DVE (and ZS-WUO) (and ZEE) Flight Log
Re: ZU-DVE (and ZS-WUO) Flight Log
Ross,
I will take pictures I promise. Even of the dashboard.
I am going to stay 2 extra days so I will be visiting one of the airfields. Not sure which one yet. Will let you know closer to the time. Len has offered a flip which I would love to accept as I have never been up in a gyro before. Fixed wings, trikes, choppers, hot air balloon, paraglider, have done all that but not a gyro.

Re: ZU-DVE (and ZS-WUO) Flight Log
20 - 22 March : a great weekend of flying in the Western Cape. Yesterday Adelle did her first microlight flip, and I think she is hooked (see
http://microlighters.co.za/viewtopic.ph ... e3d6e3a87e ). Today Ian was my passenger, and with a longer flip than I thought we were going to do, I had to arrange for fuel at Buffelsfontein for that looooong leg back, against a southerly with a bump count of 4/5. See http://www.zu-dve.com for the logs.

Re: ZU-DVE (and ZS-WUO) Flight Log
I removed the cubby, want to respray it. Funny thing is that I fitted the new prop, and the refs went over 7000, despite temps and fuel consumption remaining what it was before. I emailed Pieter, and his suggestion was that the ref counter (MGL electronics) could be at fault. In the mean time I removed the cubby, and when I next flew WUO the refs were normal. Coincidence or causal?
I edited a bit of my videos from the weekend:

If you have the bandwidth, have a look.
(5 minutes of video, not good quality, due to shrinking it - the original HD video is stunning)

See http://vholdr.com/node/78211 for a HD snippet of a movie I took last weekend.
Today:

See http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p0PJLx890Cg (How do I reduce the size of the videos without compromising on quality as much as in this one??)
This weekend I am flying to Nieuwoudtville, where the Pipistrel crowd gather every easter. We (Jannie, Di and myself) have been gatecrashing their gathering every year, and this year I have invited them for breakfast at Aurora on Sunday 4th.
If you would like to come and have a look at the Pipistrel's (apart from http://www.pipistrel.si/) let me know as soon as possible - a free breakfast for the first couple of callers. 0h eight three 5640636. If I am not answering, SMS me, or leave a message. Tomorrow morning I am flying with DVE to Aurora, Saturday to Nieuwoudtville, Sunday back for the breakfast, and Monday back to FAMS (wind permitting).

Sunday 18 April 2010
With Francois (CDG) to Franchhoek. One of the few days where it is possible to fly right against the Hottentot Hollands Mountains - even to the east of Groenberg. Made a movie, will post it on http://www.zu-dve.com - log also to be seen there.

On Sunday there was a bit of a northerly in Aurora, and I tried to get to evasive 0 mph - see the clip. Also, I misjudged that tailwind over "Platberg"

See http://www.zu-dve.com for today's log
At last, less wind, but not cold enough for whole day flying yet.
