History Q.

Postby VFTO » Fri Aug 15, 2008 10:51 am

In the 80's there was a microlight imported into SA. Shaped like an egg. Had a see through canard, with delta shaped wing similar to the trikes. i think it was a falcon?.

Does anyone know of any still in SA. Saw one at the Springs air show years back. Never seen one again puff

Hybrid of a Streak Shadow.?

That front "wing " looks very wierd, could be a handful when landing in wind ?

There is one of these in Uitenhage, and I believe it is being rebuilt to be flown.

Aparently the canard design is inherently safe and stall resistant. The forward plane stalls before the main wing dropping the nose, so in theory the the main wing never stops flying

I searched for aircraft registered to Wally Filjoen here:
http://www.avdex.co.za/saregister/
But couldn't find anything.

I dont think Wally owns the Falcon in Uitenhage. I think it is between owners at present. Was sold by Alan Jones just prior to his departure to NZ/Aus about 5 years ago, and is somewhere between that purchaser, and the owner of the hangar, in which it currently resides. He is a lurker here so he may well make contact. The reg is ZS-UZL
