Hi Justin very valid comment I own aJ430 which I fly and hanger at FASD a well built and excellent aircraft but she prefers AVGAS and at R13 to R16per lt one does not fly as often as one would like .With MOGAS the egts tend to run on the hot side the engine gives a average fuel burn of 20lt per hr,with fuel injection I believe this engine would happily run on MOGAS. A point to consider is that the jabi engine is normally aspirated and theoretically should have less power at increased altitude ,were as forced induction engines perform better at altitude.
Are you sure of the current price of the 3300 engine in ready to fly configuration. I got a quote from the factory with all dress level components and our figures don’t match.

Not sure on the price of the 3300. I last got a quote in October, or so. The 3300 runs just fine on Mogas. There is a flight school in George that flew one to TBO on Mogas without problems.

Fuel consumption will be pretty much the same on the Yaris engine as the Jabiru. No matter what the adds say, turbo charged petrol engines rarely get better than 0.4 lb/hp/hr bsfc, while the Jabiru operates at around 0.42. So you will use about 5% less fuel at the same power setting.

The real advantage of the Yaris engine is the turbo, which will be a huge bonus up here!

That price is not very attractive & I see no history of this company's designs

how about this one $ 9900 for low milage Honda Jazz engine with proper gearbox RD. or $13800 with brand new engine.

At R160 000-00 may as well do what we are trying to avoid and buy a rattex!The Honda is a really good value for money engine with some great engineering.I have met Jan Eggenfellner and he is a no nonsense guy with HEAPS of experience in automotive conversions-I support all the effort that the Soyth Africans are putting into an alternative engine but it needs to be cost effective-not the same price as what is available-where is all the money in R160 000-00.??.Keep up the great work.Diesel Dog-i still dont think that R160 000-00 is anywhere near cost effective-But R16000-00 for the kit i will order 5 for my gyros.Regards Gary.

Makes the 1200GS look cheap

Going flying now with Bosvark on two cylinders, just remember they are two "Bielies."

Good luck with your project .N BOER MAAK ALTYD n PLAN.

Hi There
Don't want to hijack, but would like to say something about the costs mentioned. We have just started our Toyota 1.5 VVTi engine and is currently being tuned at the specialists shop. Costs so far:
* Low milage engine bench tested
* Reduction Gearbox Paid - waiting for delivery
* Ecu wiring and electrics
* Engine Mountings
* Exhaust System
* Engine Monitoring Instruments
* Fuel Pumps
* Fuel & Air Filters
* Coolant System
Total Costs so far: R35 000,00
All work done by ourselves, No labour costs!
We are going to try to take the Cobra to the AERODEN flyin on the 27th Feb.
Maybe it Can be done, still lots of testing to be done !!!
