Hugo Visser from Petit Airfield has secured a sponsor from Caterpillar, Isando for boerewors rolls and cool drinks for the event.
Thanks a lot to Caterpillar Isando.
So even if you are not competing, come and join us at this, the first microlight competition for the year.

Last night's special briefing was held by Mervyn and Shaun at Petit during a huge downpour.
They discussed the 4 tasks over the 2 days more in detail.
In each task there are many elements for which points can be scored, including; reaching the turning points, predicting groundspeeds, altitude, identifying photo objects, spot landings (power on and power off as well as reduced deck) and short field take-offs. Even points scored (actually lost) for non-departing on the exact departure slot allocated.
Nothing to be scared of but sure to test the skills of the competitors.
Remember that we have to start complying with the international microlight competition standards if we want to host the world champoinships in 2013.

Registration takes place on Friday evening at which point anybody can still enter.

Mervyn indicated that there will be briefing sessions at 15:00, 17:00 and 19:00 on Friday.
The first task description for Saturday morning will be handed out already on Friday night.
Each competitor will received the Start, End and turning points on the map, 1 hour before departure of the task.
There will be Masters assisting the novices with the planning of the routes before departure.

This is sure to be a competitive but also fun event. vhpy

Please remember to bring kneeboards, stopwatches, calculators, whiteboard pens etc to be able to plan the tasks on your maps.
See you on Friday...

Mervyn reminds the competitors to bring a GPS to act as backup route tracker.
Due to the number of entries, they may not have enough loggers from MISASA's side so the abovementioned GPS's may have to be used as tracking loggers.
Also remember to bring the data cable to connect it to a pc for the downloads.

Please remember to bring kneeboards, stopwatches, calculators, whiteboard pens etc to be able to plan the tasks on your maps.
