Thanks Mark. You can do something with stickers and pinstripe if you cant spray paint. Been working on this baby for 2yrs. you must definately fit the side windows, not only for visiability, really looks much more sporty. Very easy to do. Have you checked www.shadowowners.flyer.co.uk

Hi George - I looked at Rudi's side window, definitely a worthwhile investment.
Seems like all my issues are sorted out, prop adjustment made a huge improvement, my flight yesterday = much more thrust, egt's perfect, rpm constant, climbed out at 6500 rpm (static 6200), water temp never went above 70 degC, 80 MPH at about 75 % throttle. next flight will be a short excursion away from the field

Hi Rudi, George(Posting from my cell phone) pls excuse. Flight was excellent. Tnx Rudi, & pics.- Really happy with my machine, flys straight/level hands free, very smooth, motor feels very good - cruise 80 mph at approx 5300 rpm. Landed with full flaps this time, lot slower so suits me. G i noticed the reflection on wind shield but not too bad. Some elevator fluttering when trimmed out (this should be sorted out with bolt through hinge stiffening elevator as uk advisory- mod done after the flight ). I have now 3 hours in the air - starting to build confidence in the motor. . Really Looking forward to next week . cheers mark

Ah Shame. You moan about that, we lucky if we can fly once in 2 weeks. When the sun comes out the wind decides to blow like hell. The Poms would feel quite at home here in KZN. And even worse, my ATF expires friday. and you think you having a bad time? Glad to hear all well with ZU-BHD. DO yourself a favour and check channel 415 on DSTV and check KZN every now and then.
Hope you get the good weather back.

You guys mind if I chip in with a question?:

What is the difference between the Shadow/Streak etc? The various airframes look very similar from the photos.

Cheers

Hi Heinrich,
you right , when you look at them from a distance they have identical design, apart from a couple of mods. I'll try explain all and keep, it short.
I fly the basic Shadow C/D. C being the series and D for dual control, but not to be flown from the rear 1 up.
Shadow has 10m wingspan, longer chord, the entire wing is larger. VNE 94kts
Streak Shadow just under 8m wingspan, shorter chord, much smaller surface area VNE 121kts.
Star Streak, not 100% sure on dimensions, but wing even smaller than Streak. Not sure of VNE.
The fuselarge is identical and a variety of motors. A friend has just fitted a 80hp Rotax,100kt Cruise easy, climbs in excess of 1500FT/min, +- 6lt/hr.
Hope that helps. Feel free to reply if you want to know more.

Hi Mark, as you will know from my previous post, weather's been bad and my ATF expired friday. Was very lucky thou, took afriend out to Cato with max cloud base 500ft AGL. Flew around for about an hour landed, saw an opening, took off imediately and took the gap. A perfect circular opening that took us up to 2000ft AGL ie 4500ft ASL at Cato. We were in this opening above the clouds. What an amazing experience for 5min, and then got the hell out. Waiting for some pics from him, and will post. Watch this space!!!
Wish my AP would move his ASS. Unfortunately he is in huge demand.
Regards George.

Hi George, yes pls upload the pics when you can. again was lucky enough to fly this morning but decided to stay in the circuit due to very poor viz\mist - had planned to fly to witbank, will retry tomorrow morning!. was still worth the 60 km drive out to the field - experimented \ checked climb performance etc. Climbed at 900 ft/min with 3/4 tank, field alt 4800ft but air was cool. Then did some slow flying - 50 mph no problem (did not want to attempt slower speed at low alt). The only issue i have with this design "very small issue!" is that no side slipping allowed acc to poh.
I will upload pictures next week when back at work.
Cheers mark

Hi Heinrich

A while ago we talked about KR's and other types as at the time both looking to purchase (I'm the bloke who also lives in Centurion).
You must seriously consider a shadow if still want to purchase. -
When u at rhino again let me know, will gladly meet for a chat.

Cheers

Hey Mark,

I do rememberyou , IIRC you also commute via 2 wheels to Wynberg :)

Congrats on the purchase , looks lovely. I had a closer look at one once in the UK and they have a huge following over there too. I think the fact that they don't come on the market often - and don't stay long when they do - says a lot about them.

Let me know what your secret was to get hangarage. I spoke to Rudi to other day and can't seem to find any that is close enough for me (and affordable). It's the biggest drawback atm as I'm seriously looking at a VP1 and no joy on decent hangars so far.

Haven't been to Rhino in a while but if I do I'll try and contact you to see if we can meet up.

Enjoy the toy!

Heinrich
