Microlight Insurance
Hi guys. I know this is a hollow ridden topic. Some of you might remember that a year or so ago a friend of mine in insurance tried to get our planes insured. He did not succeed but he never stopped trying.
Well he spoke to one of the directors of a company who specializes in outdoor insurance and they have recently changed some of their views regarding insurance of SOME items.
What i need at this stage is for anybody to supply me with information regarding the amount of microlights flying in the country, accidents in the last year or two etc etc. Basically all info we can get on microlights as an insurance company will look at it.
These people are really interested in investigating this and IF it is going to be successful, i will really call on everybody to support my buddy big time. He does not even fly but it bugs him that we battle so much to get insurance at a descent rate.
So guys please let rip with any info you have. Lets try once AGAIN.

Re: Microlight Insurance
Insurance co''s are not going to base anything on our submissions. If they don't have the clout to underwrite the cover they will need the bigboys for back-up who definately know where to find stats.
Just tell them at the Numbi Fly-in, there was more than 6 mill worth of 'microlights' parked around the avo trees for 4 days.

Are you unhappy with the cost of the insurance or are you saying you struggle to get insurance. Jankelow did a quote for me and It's not unreasonable as far as I'm concerned. They do cater for microlights.
Nuts about Cheetahs. Petit is the place.

Re: Microlight Insurance
I am talking under correction, but i think Jankelow ask in the region of 8-10% ofthe value of the plane as a premium per year. We are looking at options at the region of 3 % per year.

Hello Bacchus,
Why not try Alex Rudd from Misasa I am sure he would be the best person to supply you with the info you are looking for or at least be able to point you in the right direction.

Re: Microlight Insurance
3% of hull value per annum, plus the War and some other fees... I can dig up the policy and get exact details. (I think it actually 1.81% of hull, but not surejustin.schoeman wrote:Per anum, or per month?RV4ker wrote:trike or 3 axis?

PS
If you own more than 1 aerie enquire about 1 up 1 down. Makes owning more than 1 VERY attractive......
