Howzit all
Ok so were not there yet!!!
The rpm still drops but only by 600 now. so its down to 5800 from 6400.
I left the engine at full throttle for about 15 minutes and the engine stayed at 5800 without dropping any more. I brought it back to idle and everything was fine temp etc. I dont know anybody know of a 582 going for a good price??

Hoesit Duck old chap!
Hope you had a good Christmas? Mine was good but no aeries in the old sock!!
Did fly though!!!
but in a blik
Well yes I did change a prop BUT I have gone from the old to the new and visa versa with only a small change. What I forgot to mention is that I have just changed the exhaust as well and it is here where the problem lies. The previous exhaust was a high performance one and therefore I did not have such a big differance. If I have to put it back Im sure Ill can make the rpm thing go away, BUT it isnt the thing. It should be right with the correct exhaust!!
Also, this is a bastard plane and as soon as I can afford it Im going to change the engine to a 582 with a gearbox. At the moment I have a belt drive with 6 v-belts . Guess where Im loosing power!!!!!!!!
I have spoken to some old gent from the USofA and he told me a similar story and sugeted that I use a different type of bearing on mu hub and then secondly try to convert to a timing belt. Now that will be the first thing that Im going to do, then Ill see about changeing the motor. Im just getting gatvol of this always playing on the ground without knowing
Hey thank you very much for taking such an interest
it is appreciated.

Well now, you see, I asked long ago...near the beginning of the thread about your prop AND exhaust! Is this new exhaust good? What about the muffler? Plugged...half plugged? Set up correctly?Aerosan wrote: What I forgot to mention is that I have just changed the exhaust as well and it is here where the problem lies. The hub and timing belt ain't gonna make you rev up and then lose revs. There's something else wrong. You're eliminating them one by one.....Sticky rings are now heading the list of suspects in my book.
Airspeed, altitude, or brains....you always need at least two
Hi Ducky
yip the sticky rings are now also up there for me. I have spoken to the guy who imported the engine and he said that it was standing for mor than 3 years!!!!! just like that dry!!
Well the good news is that I have just bought a complete 532 so Ill place that in and get the 618 re-done. Then , of course I need another plane for the 618!!! :D clever you see. The wife wont know what hit her!!!
Well thanks for all of your replys and all the sugestions. I whish you a happy new year.
Cheers Renier
P.s. this year I have to meet you!!! you know to put a face to the name!!

Remove the RAVE valves and clean them. The stud between the vlave and the plastic cup should be turned in to it's maximum on both ends.
Check the diaphragm and replace if necessary.
Remove the cables use to actuate them, they do no work, just leave it alone.
One you've done this and you still experience the rpm drop, call me.
