Pitot Tube Position

I'm interested to hear that worldly knowledge out there. Where would you have the pitot tube positioned on a Challenger? Mine is currently right on the nose, as I bought it secondhand a couple of years back. I have had a few discussion's with regard to this this and now I would like to put it out there and see what you guys have to say.

As far as I know, doesn't make a difference whether it's on the nose (for the Challenger, that is) or out below the wing. I've seen them installed in both configurations. Is this what you're asking, 'cos your question is a bit ambigious.
Most Challies have them on the nose.

Guys talk about "dirty" air on the nose. Not quite sure what that means. Is the airflow not as efficient on the nose? Some say you get a far more accurite airspeed reading if it's positioned on the wing? I have a feeling that my airspeed indicator over reads by 5mph.I have a normal analouge gauge with fitting in the back connected with rubber hose to an aliminium tube at the nose. I was thinking changing position may solve this. There again I have been flying like this for almost 3 years! I'm just curious to see what guys have to say and take it from there.

At the sort of speeds the Challie is doing, I doubt if the "dirty" air is much more than a couple of inches off the nosecone. (theoretically)We're talking air pressure here remember. Leave it on the nose but make it longer by, say, 30cm, then see if there's a difference.

Your point is taken. Just to confirm. I emailed Dave at Quadcity in the States and he says he puts them on the nose. So there's it from Mr Challenger himself.
So I can call this one case closed!

The most effective position for a pitot tube is at approx 2000 ft AGL. Now go fly.
