EGT Temps

Postby Massimo » Mon Aug 31, 2009 9:01 am

Hmm.........

When i first started flying with my 701 the temperature differences between the 2 egt's was about 15 degrees. About 10 or so hours ago this changed to a variance of about 40 deg and has remained there. Ive asked the "experts" and they say not to worry. But why the change? Its a 912s.

Many things can cause the variance. The experts are right. dont worry about it. It can be caused by small things like different air preasures, carb balancing, a throttle cable going to one of the carbs could have moved or stretched half a millimeter, airfilters or even the probe itself. You will possibly even get different variances at different rpm`s. You know that the diff is 40 deg, when the difference starts increasing again you might want to start looking for the cause. Just keep the egt`s within spec.
Lower, Lower ...........

Hi Splinter,

I have the Skydat system, and found the same problem. checked the wires, and all looked ok. But when i remove the wires from the small input box, i found that only 3 of the 10 strands were attached. Snipped off the offending piece and checked, all sweet again. Could this mabey be your problem ?

Never say "not to worry" If you get a split then something changed. Maybe the cable link on the throttle is slowly starting to slip? INVESTIGATE. It could be any of the above as mentioned by the other posts, some not so serious but as with most engine outs it's a combination of a series of uninvestigated or unatended problems that will land you in trouble.
