Urgent Notification
Castrol TTS two-stroke Motorcycle Oil
Batch : 050 50 69 82
CAUTION
Please be advised that we suspect that there could have been a possible contamination of some 1 litre packs of Castrol TTS two stroke oil. The relevant suspect batch number is 050 50 69 82 and dated the 20/05/2005.
Batch numbers are printed on the pack in small black lettering. If you need further information please call 0800 111 551 and ask for the Technical help desk.
The non-conforming product can be identified by the following:
· Colour is straw rather than the typical blue or red.
· Thickness of the oil appears heavier than standard TTS.
The product is mainly used in the following two stroke engine applications:
· Watercraft - Jet Ski's
· Motorcycles/Quads - 2 and 4 wheelers.
· Aircraft - Microlites
· Other- Chainsaws, brushcutters, lawnmowers.
Using the mentioned product in the noted applications could cause the following:
· Increased smoking from exhaust system.
· Increased carbon formation on engine components.
· Spark plug fouling and malfuction.
· Decrease in engine performance.
Actions to be followed should owners have used the non-conforming product:
· Product should be drained and replaced immediately.
We advise that you evaluate any stock which may be on your shelves or in your stores, and remove such stock with immediate effect. Should you identify any such stock, please can you notify BP via fax or e-mail of the following:
· Number of bottles
· Batch Number
· Store contact person name
· Store contact person telephone number
Stock should then be returned to BP Southern Africa via the usual return method.
