A CLASSIC

Postby Nkwazi » Sat Jun 27, 2009 8:22 pm

Was that not the stuff that legends are made of?? Classic, beautiful, passionate - just as the game should be played. Well done South Africa, well done Lions, thanks for the entertainment, thanks for keeping the tradition of close, hard test matches. WOW!!

THAT SAID!!!!

My 2 cents worth.........I just hope and pray that, the stupid and incompetent ahole of a coach, will learn that you need to play with inform players who have performed throughout the season, and not continue with hasbeens. The likes of Schalk Burger,Rickey January,Juan De Villiers, Adie Jacobs, Ruan Pienaar, etc, to name but a few. These players have nearly cost us the series. I reckon that, with ALL the inform players available, any given, knowledgeable "SPECTATOR" will be able to choose a team capable of thrashing any world team at the moment, yet... our national coach...has the wonderful insight to chose a team that almost self destructs and then we give the LIONS the credit of being a good side. We should have annihilated them!!!

I just cannot comprehend that Heindrich Brussouw can be left out for the likes of Schalk Burger and Wynand Olivier is left out for the likes of Adie Jacobs.God forbid that he is allowed to coach this team "entirely "on his own. He should be left on his own to adress the media with the gems like "JA! I'll take this one"...and "JA! I'll take the win" after every question.

I guess that selection is an area where there are many views and biases so McFly I do not agree with all of your comments.

I would agree with January and Jacobs but the others are brilliant players who would all walk into any team. They have not played badly and have a lot of experience which you need to retain in a sucessful side. Our worst spell with the boks was when they chopped and changed the side all the time. In other words do not mess with something if it is not broken.

Unfortunately the quota issue is a reality in SA rugby.

My view is that they went with experience with Pienaar and the lack of a specialist nearly cost us. I would now give Morne a chance and put Pienaar on the bench. Brussouw is fantastic and he will get his chance now.

As long as they do not put Rose in......................

I'm worried about last line defence on the wings and back.

How much of the captain selection goes into being an articulate speaker? Probably 3 better scrummers than Smit and they seem to allow the coach to hold press conferences anyway.
The blithering idiot does'nt even raise a laugh from the Kiwis anymore, he just maintains the international perception that we're doff and our rugby is based on violent impact with little consequence.

I'd take the blou bull hooker who is a fetcher and stealer like Uli Schmit rather than a ground and pounder for 2 metres.

John Smit is now playing where he always should have and really playing his best rugby. I cant think of any other better prop than him. You cannot underestimate the value he brings to the boks - look what happened in the first test when the idiotic coach took him off, thank goodness he came back on.

Great game.
I was there.

Ailthough we were flattened, the experience of sitting in the stand and knowing this will only happen again in 12 years time was amazing.

As for the selection

I think the simple phrase 3D explains it

It was a 3D team

Go boys and let the fast men run!!
And now that you have seen them?

I really thought it would have been a little better than it was. The start of the second half summed it up, they look like they were scared to pick up the ball.

How about the tennis, awesome game. Roddick lost, but had won more games than Federer and just lost his serve once in the whole match.

And as said 11 players were given a chance to play and the lions given a chance to win ## ##
