Hi Guys,
I was wondering if the exhaust of the engine on a trike affects the BRS and could cause it to open due to the heat of the exhaust gases?
Thanks

Hi Trikenut,
Would you know, I learned the answer to your question today.
I took apart the rocket of a GRS, of which I am the importer, to send back for service.
Now, my memory of instruction at the factory is a bit rusty so I gave Dave Grosvenor who had done it a call, but it was a doddle. It will need great overheating to set off a ballistic chute. The ignitors, instigator black powder and rocket fuel are all encased behind thick metal and a sturdy fibreglass cover. A blowtorch pointed at the right spot might eventually set it off.

Re: BRS Chutes
Thanks Abe,
So basically it shouldn't go off with the heat of an exhaust? Am I correct in assuming that the heat needed to set off the rocket would melt the outer white case before it actually set the chute off? Not something thats gonna hapen with an exhaust!
Thanks
Ross

Hi Alkemac,
My BRS is gathering dust in the hanger since I found it uneconomical to send for service.
On the GRS I subsequently bought (and import ten at a time) the second set of numbers on the decal. after a four-set, is a two-digit year number of manufacture, add six and when it hits the year, call me and I will arrange a repack at the factory, about R8k there and back, good as new.
