Here we go again!!!!!

Postby Tracer » Mon May 18, 2009 6:13 pm

Just read through AIRAC AIP S028/09.....

Again from 10 June 2009 (0600) to 28 June 2009 (1700), there will be a 50nm Temporary Restricted airspace, centered on VOR JSV (Basically the whole of JHB and PTA) and one around Rustenburg. This basically cover the whole of JHB, PTA, Harties etc (with our field right in the middle  )

As with the world cup exercise, you need to get permission from the SAAF (with ref number), then fill in a flight plan, and have a transponder, to fly.

Wonder if they will allow us to fly without transponders, as during the exercise???? :?: :?: :?: (**)

What a bunch of A$$h0le$    50nm ? Surely that is way more than needed?

All this so that a few fatcat "VIP's" can fly in

I think it is time we stand up and fight this....... I feel that my freedom is being restricted, maybe we should see what the constitutional court has to say about this?

Already one flight school relocated to Secunda with their JHB & PTA students. No traffic, more circuits, cheaper, no downtime.

The last time I complained about it everyody told me to get with the programme and not complain. Obviously had no effect because it only bothered flight schools that operated in the week. Now that it's over weekends everybody wants to complain.

It is absolutely riduculous, but then again with the state of the SAAF, the only way they can keep the skies safe from 'threats' is to ground everyone!

Ok before everybody goes into a huge panic - All you do is get permission from the SAAF - then file a flight plan and you can fly. They allow microlights with no transponder. Colonel Elma de Villiers whom we dealt with the previous time has laready confirmed that the same will apply and that they are in the porcess of launching a website where you could do it electronically. Hopefully it will be done beforethe time arrives. If not you can simply supply her with the aircraft detail - pilot and pax with ID numbers and where and to you are flying. In the mean time join file2fly so long so you can submit and cancel your flight plans electronically (much easier than any other way).

ok for everybody that wants to know what to do. I attach a spreadsheet sample of what she wants and her contact detail is at the top when you open it. I also paste my mail of yesterday to her here.

Stephan,

Yes, we will follow the same procedure. One difference - there is a website that is in process of being created (http://www.airspace.af.mil) and we will (hopefully!) place an electronic application form on this site, to make life easier for you. But in the meantime, yo can e-mail the info to me for authorisations.

Enjoy!

Good day to you Elma. Do I assume that we can get permission to fly for this period the same way we did the previous time when the practice runs were done?. That being mailing you a list of aircraft with pax pilots and their ID numbers and then filing a flight plan?. We fly microlights from Petit airfield and none of them are transponder equipped.

Regards

Stephan van Tonder.

You have to be in the sky to see me in the sky. I fly over there so often, but there is never anything happening there ##
