Fuel line leaks!

Postby extra300s » Fri May 08, 2009 1:34 pm

Guys, I hve a leak on my facet pump. There is a 90 degree brass connector with NPT thread. The previous owner used normal white thread tape. Picked up a leak. How should I fix it? Lock-tite? What product or method should be used?

Thanks
Karl

I hear you on this one. Actually plumbers tape (the teflon type is recommended but I have no clue where to buy it) and a well tightened brass fitting should be enough. Having said that I had one that just would not stop leaking so I used Epidermix 372, used on the Bushbaby for a number of uses and freely available from Builders warehouse etc in two small tins. This epoxy is inert to fuel and works very well plus it will release if you need to take the pump apart for whatever reason. It's one of those "using a hammer to drive in a screw" solutions

Thanks Morph.

What is small tins? 500ml or smaller. I see for the 500ml it cost R177. Bit much to seal one fitting on my trike...

Used thread tape as a temp solution to get in the air. Will have to fix asap.

I have seen them in very small tins, something like 50ml.

Landed at MS Saterday morning. Only saw skidmark there with his Challie.

Those trees are a bugger on finals! Landed on 02 no problem otherwise. Just strange what those trees generates :-)

Hi there F

Thought there might be allot of trafic that a way so routed to the coast. Excellent flight of almost 2 hours. Lekker stuff.

Will do Stellenbosch next time.

Keep well.
