Rotor Safety
What would happen if something hits your rotor in mid air eg. bird? Would the rotor recover?

When I did my conversion training on the MT-03 at the factory school at Hildesheim the Instructor there told me that he had hit a buzzard with the rotors in flight and the result was minced buzzard - no damage to the rotors.

Re: Rotor Safety
I heard about this guy, when landing on a gravel road somewhere, misjudge his landing and came close to a stop sign. Needless to say he chopped the stop sign in two with his rotor blade.
Luckily the stop sign pole was made out of wood. Best of all, little to no damages to the rotor. Don’t know if it is true however….

Re: Rotor Safety
Oh yes its true. There are also pictures to prove it, although I have seen them, I do not have copies. Some of the members on this forum may be so kind as to post them.
It was actually a yield sign and it was chopped right off. The 'unnamed' gyro-pilot took of and flew on without further incident.
Rotors therefore appear to be able to take a great amount of punishment.
