Morning lads

Time for some really definitive answers please (stephan, your the legal eagle)???.

My authority to fly expires on the 22 April 2009. I havent made any mods to the plane, its been serviced in the last 25 hours and other than that NOTHING has changed in the last year. The last time I was at CAA and got my ATF it was a seamless pretty smooth process.... sooooo, big question is,

What do i need to take with me / have / complete / submit / pay / prove / justify or whatever is required when i go to CAA and ask for a renewal of my ATF??

I really dont want to be going back and forth numerous times and (naturally ) would like to make the process as simple as possible... what do i need to do...??

Please advise...

For you to be sure, take all your ramp inspection list papers with you. Then you are safe. They step up their check a notch last year, and I strugled to get ATF due to all I had to prove. They asked for POH, mass & balance, equipment list, maintanence schedule.

I thought they had all my papers, but apparently not.

oh dear - i dont have mass and balance?? as far as i know thats on file with them.... poh ??? the other thing is do i need to get an AP to look at the plane and sign something off..??

You go to an AP that can inspect your plane and sign it off. To him you take your aircraft logbook, flight folio, manuals, Equipment list etc, basically everything you own on your airplane in the line of paperwork. He will inspect your airplane, and then sign and stamp on your logbooks etc and note the equipment is the same as before and weight and balance unchanged form previous year. New Weight and balance to be done every 5 years.
Then with all that stuff you schlep yourself off to the CAA and you should be in and out in no time. Your AP should make sure you have all the right paperwork and everything you need. And of course you are a current paid up aeroclub and misasa member with 3 party aren't you..

Hi Dish

I had my ATF done last month, The balance and weight is valid I think for 3 years, so if you had one done in the last three years then there is no need for one, Braam at CAA did my ATF and he still asked for my balance and weight and I told him ours was done two years ago, he then looked through our file and saw it there and he said ok all in order!

The balance and weight is valid I think for 3 years, so if you had one done in the last three years then there is no need for one,

Then....

Please take note of this:

Go to the front desk and pay your R100, they will give you a reciept, THEN go back to the reception desk at the entrance doors and tell them that you are here for an ATF, they will then call Braam. He will then come and get you to go with him to the 2nd floor where he will do all the paper work.

I did the following, Paid my R100, then I went and sat on those couches waiting for someone to call me, after 45 min I went back to the lady and asked her when they will come fetch me, she then said I should have gone to the reception area so that they can call him.

After I did that it took 20 min and I was done, what a waste of time!!

So do the correct thing and you will we out there in no time!!

Yep,

same as blue angel, took less than half hour from time getting out of the car to getting back into it, quite painless ( apart from the midrand traffic )

Eish midrand traffic - let's not go there.... already 'helped' a taxi understand the rules of the road a little there with the landcruiser's bullbar one day. He now knows that the pavement isn't another lane and cars from the right doesn't just let you in by default......

You sound like my father in law, he makes markings on his steering wheel everytime he helps them out with road laws, being pushing or getting out and talk to them, I told him he is a bit not so lekker, but he reckens he owns the road hehehehehe

ya - i do remember it being painless last time but i had all the right stuff. I know Braam well - he is a great lad and very helpful....
