Caring, cleaning and replacing of windscreens.

Postby Bennie Vorster » Fri Apr 10, 2009 3:00 pm

I now have to replace my windscreen for the second time in 130 hours of flying. Isn't there a more dureble material than LEXAN to make a windscreen on a microlight and how do you maintain it so it do not scratsh.....???

I hate it when I have to feel where I'm flying.

Hallo Bennie

I have just over 200 hours on my Skyranger and no problem with the lexan yet...
On the Skyranger forum some of the pilots wrote that they had problems with lexan cracking.
They changed from 1.5mm to 2mm thick lexan. It does ad a little weight but is a lot stronger.
Mr Min and a soft cloth works wonders. Spray it on, wipe of and use another dry soft cloth (yellow duster) to buff.
Fly safe.

Ja Boet, the good company (^^) (^^) and then some aspiring preacher with his loudspeakers ($$) ($$) ($$) ($$) really made my head full of silly ideas.

Also Bennie, you can get these pull-off strips that the racers use on their helmets ($$) ($$) ($$) .......Okay I know it's an stupid idea so just change to new Lexan. puff puff

Seriously tho' this is not a good idea at all. Very dangerous . I changes the flying characteristics significantly and introduces a lot if drag. ##

Bennie, there are two threads here detailing the replacing of the windows. I see Comet, aka Aviation Engines have a product that cleans and removes scratches from screens. Give them a call
