If God is your co-pilot, you need to swap seats.
Single ignition
Hi
I went through this a while ago it doesnt seem to make a difference. The ignition is very basic and robust. Dont let it put you off a plane you like.
Cheers

If it will get your arse in the air, and that's your budget, then go for it. Nothing wrong with a single ignition.Blue Angel wrote:Hi,

Airspeed, altitude, or brains....you always need at least two

Did the general feeling regarding 503 SI and DI changed since 2007?

Re: Rotax 503
Nothing changed here just bought a spare 462 with single ignition and never thought twice about dual ignition.

Re: Rotax 503
Just my comment on this issue. I fly a DI 503 and I detected a difference in power when running on SI or both. On a test that I did the engine did not reach full revolutions (6300 rpm) during SI. I would say there is a definate difference in power output.

Hi Luther,
Interesting discovery.....I wonder if that is part of the DI design or just a "by Product" due to the design. To do a 1 to 1 (SI to DI) comparison would probably be difficult. Due to the way the engine was ran in the care that was taken with it.
Is there a way of doing an independent test on both engines? Has anyone done it before?
