Mags?

Postby kudu2 » Wed Apr 01, 2009 2:02 pm

Hi

One can get a monthly magazine for general flying - SA Flyer, African Pilot.
Is there a monthly mag for microlighting, which involves different aircraft types specs and sales, and general microlighting news. :?:

SA flyer widely available at P&P and most news stands. African Pilot can be an absolute bitch to find and I hope they improve their circulation network soon.
AP tries to cover more GA than SAF so I tend to buy it rather. No microlight magazine monthly but if you belong to misasa you get a nice one quarterly

As I am involved in Microlighting and working for African Pilot we aim to cover at least one microlight story every month. Hopefully there will be a huge turnout at the Cosmos run this weekend with lots of nice photos for a story in the May Mag.
We did warn our distributors to pull up their socks and gave them 3 months to do so. Will welcome feedback from you guys where you don't find the mags. (^^)

Rather tell me where to find them because every month it's a huge mission for me to eventually find a cna or a major news agency that has some. Basically for the last 4 months I have found sort of the previous month's issue at some flying event or at the aero club office rather than being able to actually buy it at any shop. Why not simply distribute to Pick & Pay like all the other magazines?. You have a good product but people won't buy it if they can't readily find it.

My local Spar carries all the mags including AP !

AP has a nice spread of articles including microlight stuff, not just big, expensive BLIK !

The AP is distributed with the Junk Mail and not the conventional mag distributors.

Store owners try and shrink the mag range coz it gets out of hand and they stock you with dead lines, only getting credit for expired returns between one and 4 months later.

Ask your local store to just order with his next junk mail delivery or get Marius to contact them with your store's details.

Sorry to hear that Stephan. Just fly over to Microland every month for a copy. Shelve space is a huge problem, even with the big stores and CNA's. Find that altough they get them from the distributors they sometimes don't bother to put them out unless someone asks for it. This happen not only to AP but also other mags.

The best way is to subscribe you will save a lot and at least its in OUR hands to get it to you.

I haven't renewed any subscriptions. I used to subscribe to about 6 different mags covering my other hobbies as well but found about 30% of them never made it to my post box.
