There was an article in SA Flyer about a chopper being built somewhere in one of the old eastern block countries. I am sure that they used a Subaru engine or it might have been an option. The price for a 2l egine was about R28k.

I have done a bit of research on the Sabaru for my blik...In my opinion the subaru is a modern version VW engine (same basic flat four) and since the VW has succesfull Aero conversion the people stated experimenting with it to convert it to aero. It can be done but you will need to do a lot of research and experimentation.

I have not heard about it in a Microlight yet. But these guys does an exellent conversion for the Vans Aircraft but at the same price as a lycoming: http://www.eggenfellneraircraft.com/
