Re: Jabiru J120 at Kittyhawk 14 February.
It was there - it's nice. At the price a nice deal. And no I don't really comfortably fit in. Feel positively claustrophobic when the door is closed. But it will be popular I'm sure.
Compared to the older 160? I think it has a nicer - longer nose - I think they pre-planned it for that 3300.
The rear stab is a lot bigger and it looks more in proportion.

I agree with you Stephen. My son and I flew across from Circus airfied in our cheetah (Orange Cheetah in the background of your photos) and although this Jabiru is really a nice aircraft, the cabin is way to small, think we will stay with the Cheetah.Stephan van Tonder wrote:It was there - it's nice. Is it comparable to the JK 05 in space / performance

Looks nice, don't like the Y stick though, prefer the conventional single stick for me the Y stick is an awkward hand hold, centering controls is off centre!
Would really prefer dual stick controls, (in front of each pilot)I hope it is not becoming a standard fit... Are there any Jabs out there with dual sticks? Otherwise a really nice looking bird, but how much better is it than the J160? Is the J160 being replaced by this new kid on the block?

John - I don't know about performanceas I didn't fly - just climbed in. But it's smaller than a jk05 inside. I literally put it on like a jersey that is too tight and I'm not sure that I could spend any amount of time inside it. It is bigger inside than the older one but the panel seems to be closer making it a little uncomfortable for tall people. Let me show you 2 other pics.
Same guy in a rans 12s and in the 120

That is a Tall/big guy, he must be over 185 CM but I get the point. I love the panel on the foto ship 430 it would also look nice in a Cheetah I think.

John those are 2 odessey glass panels and they are too big to fit into a cheetah's panle. But there is a picture of a cheetah with a double enigma panel on the post of the cheetah fly-in. Here. Exactly the same functionality just a smaller screen.

I prefer the Y-stick for the following reason....
You still have aileron control when applying brakes by resting your arm in the cradle and still having a hand on the throttle... just a thought!
Not for the normal average Boerseun this aerie if the cabin width is the same as the old SP!
What was the joke about the older Mooneys - jy klim in en trek hom aan!

Re: Jabiru J120 at Kittyhawk 14 February.
Time for a few more photos, not all of them have the 120 in but they are all Jabbi's :D

And to show that I was not using a long lens ! All the photos were taken with a Canon EOS 5D with a Canon 24-105 L IS lens, I did have a 1Dmk3 with me with a 100-400mm lens but never needed it. Well done to the pilots !

A photo of one of my favorite planes turning final at my favorite strip !

Fly safe,
Rudi

You have taken some great pics there Rudi
R350,000 seems like a good deal, if this is an all in price, what are the standard specifications??

What awsome looking aircraft - I love the cockpit instruments.
If God is your co-pilot, you need to swap seats.
