582 Bleeding the water system?

Postby tka » Sun Feb 10, 2013 7:52 am

Hi,
I would like to drain and flush the water system. After refilling does the system have to be bled? If so, what is the procedure?

Thanks
Trevor

I removed the drain screw and drained the coolant. I then filled it with distilled water. Started the engine and ran her until the water temp was 55. Drained again and filled again with distilled water....did this until all of the 5 liters of distilled water was finished. Filled with Castrol SF premix and filled the reservoir half full. Monitored the level for a while but all was ok. AFAIK the pipe between the head and the radiator bleeds any air out the system. (^^)
