Thinking further about Georgeh's problem wrt the fuel level sender leaking. Ranger and I were looking at Gadget's plane the other day and the holes in the plastic tank that the screws need to bind have worn such that either you put in bigger screws or come up with a different idea. The plastic of the tank is just not strong enough to allow you to tighten it up to a proper seal.

This led Ranger to devising a backing plate that would be threaded with a nice fine thread (not self tapping as is normally used). But the challenge comes in how you get it into the tank.

So this is what came up. Create a round backing plate, with holes etc, shave two of the sides down. Cut a slot in the plastic that equals this new shaved down plate width.

Then pass the plate through, maybe using a string to stop you from dropping it, position at the back, place the rubber/cork gasket over the top, add the fuel level sender and screw the whole lot together

My fuel level sensor I bought from diesel electric, had about the same design. Works like a charm, but to get it fit ... (**) (**) . Took me 3 hours, and a lot of head scratching, because you don't want to take out to much tank now!! ## ##

Dear Morph

I am still on the EC776 subject.

I contacted 3M, Rep in Kwazulu Natal is Bob, price quoted R7,617.00 for minimum 6 liters.

I think that is a lot of money, any other ideas?

Anybody that knows of a similar product please let me know, as I need such a product urgently.

I bought mine through Legg and Wessel

34 Natal St
Paarden Eiland
Cape Town
7405

Tel : (021) 511-2001
Fax : (021) 511-2254

About R280 for a liter. They don't normally stock it so they have to order it in. Takes about a week

The first lot I bought from Epping Industrial Supplies. They carry stock and will dispense into any size container for you. The reason I went to Legg and Wessel 2nd was I couldn't remember their name and the 3M rep snt me there.

Fax: 021 531 0606 Epping Industria 1

Hi guys
haven't been back here since i sorted my leaking sender unit. the drawing above are similar to what i done. most important was to use capscrews, machine a groove on the underside for an o-ring.
haven't had a drip since.
