Yesterday phoned the X-winds weatherline from 14:00 to try and get myself in the air, everytime I phoned the wind just got stonger

Late last night heard the wind chimes still banging outside

But if we to have good summer rains the wind must blow now :(

Hi Demon,

I see on AVCOM that Aeronaut made a posting regarding an Impala that went thru the area not long after 17:00 and was a tad low. (It was returning from the Klerksdorp Airshow). This was about the time you were around there - did you see or hear anything ??

I believe there are a number of "Do's and Don'ts" when flying around the Magaliesburg area due to local Ostrich farms, Vulture colonies to mention but a few. I am sure there are a fair number of West/North Rand fliers on the forum who might add to, or learn from this. Could we get a thread going - maybe some input from you and your Rietfontein bud's, Aeronaut and others ??

Saw a strange board near Rhino & Llion park on WRand about a petition to ban hot air balloons as they scaring the Arsetreches to death  . Looked quiet old. If that the case with Aero's Big Fat Balloon  , I imagine an impala could do some serious damage. :?:

What is story in that aera, as most have to remain below FALA TMA?

This morning the weather looked perfect for a little flip. I drove to the top of the hill and gazed over towards Morning Star to see if the normal blanket of mist was around and miracle of miracles, nothing. Raced out to the airfield and the damn easterly was blowing again

I decided stuff this 2 weeks without flying, and I have flown in heavier winds than this, , preflighted, jumped in, backtracked 02, could feel the plane trying to nose into the wind, No buffetting just constant 10km/h wind, at almost 90 deg to the runway. So away I went, take off  was interesting but OK, climbed up to 900 ft and flew towards the wind and away from the Bluegums. Smooth and silk :D :D

After 20min and running late for an appointment joined downwind, base and finals. Short finals very very interesting.   Lots of bumps over the trees and just before ground effect a huge rotor that lifted the right wing. Corrected this and flew her all the way in. :) Phew!!!!

Did 0.5 hour on Saturday but it was a bit rough; did one circuit and the instructor thought it would be better to call it a day as we would acheive very little.
Did 0.9 hour on Sunday; started circuits (Yippeee!) and did 3; off to KZN Table Mountain for some low-level flying (awesome!); back to the field and the instructor took me through an engine-out landing.

No need to say "KZN", we all know that Table Mountain is in KZN. It's the Capt Tonians that should be specific, and say Table Mountains in CPT. **
