This is my concern. 5 minutes off frequency you can miss a lot. 5 minutes is enough for a fast blik to be on you after entering an airspace. To be honest I am fairly paraniod about it and get miffed when I spot an earie that I was not aware off due to radio silence, as far as i am concerned that classifies as a near miss.Koala wrote:WHO's listing out for other traffic on 124.80, while people have lengthly chats on 123.45.
These are probably the guys that go wizzing past you and you wonder where the h#@#$ll he came from, because he is not announcing himself on the official frequency or listening to your announcments. I can understand changing over to the chat frequency for a brief encounter, but to sit on it for ages, you are just flying around up there blind and this means that so is everybody else ( not that it is their fault ). I just can not understand how people think it is safe to fly around off frequency for any length of time, unless you are in the middle of Namibia and know that there is definitely no other traffic.![]()
