IGNITION COILS - 582

Postby John Boucher » Sun Feb 08, 2009 4:52 pm

I have now been trying for ages to get ZU-CXO back in the air...

Decided to redo the wiring harness, brakes, engine mounts and some other niggles. All was progressing well until the following... I had finished the new and very spiffy wiring harness. Was measuring where the connectors needed to go on the coils .... started cleaning the old grime, dust & oil off when..... oh 4 5 6 sakes the wires were left in my hand and the coil still firmly mounted. 1035 hours of resonant vibes had snapped the wires off clean inside the insulation - what, not again!

Well, to replace the coils costs a mere R 3600. I suggest you guys make this part of your preflight to see if the internal goodies have not somehow decided to not really be in connection any more!

Pic attached of coil number 1. Coil number 2 had similar problems... (**)
