How about a weekend to Oppikoppi next year

Postby old no 7 » Sun Aug 10, 2008 10:13 am

I flew out to Oppikoppi yesterday for a bit of a longer xcountry. What a fantastic trip!!! s023 s023
This got me thinking.
What about a more organised trip with a whole bunch from the forum.
Mawala airfield is about 10nm from Oppikopi, with a massive runway.
You can either provide your own camping arrangements via back-up ground-crew, or stay in "the Kreef Hotel"

Cool idea ! Keep us posted closer to the time. I'm sure we can arrange a "taxi" from Mawala to the venue through Evert, owner ofMawala.

Hi Glen - so you did it then. I'm quite jealous, looks like a nice experience.

These pics look a bit like the mountainside in Hout Bay. Called Mandela Park

Hey Leon,
It WAS great. I really regreted having to leave for home, hence my idea of a sleep-over next year.
Really got to plan for two night stay-over to allow for one serious party one night and a sober flight back after the second night

Much better!!! The outdoor showers from overhead offer an alternative to Sandy Bay as well
