Info on airfield in Brits area

Postby andreb » Tue May 06, 2008 8:03 pm

Twice in the last few weeks I have seen a small plane (looked like 3 axis microlight) turning finals and disappearing (landing) at high speed south of Brits area. The area is south of N4 platinum highway, north of the ridge and close to the R511. In the vicinity of Zilkaats Estate. I first thought the plane was about to make a high speed run through Zilkaats Nek. Thought the pilot was suicidal the first time as the wind was pumping over the Nek.

Anyone know what airfield is in the area. It it too far West for Kroon, too far South for Brits and too far East for Aviators. I can't find it on my airfield database downloaded from this site.

No, Aeroden is much further West next to the old Rustenburg road. This is East of the Crocodile River mine.
thanks.

I wonder if they have built a runway on the Zilkaats Estate?

Thanks. I assume it would be a reasonable length runway as the plane I saw was really moving quickly. Couldn't identify the aircraft make or model.
