Removing Aluminium Rust?

Postby Byron » Wed Apr 30, 2008 9:40 am

Howzit guys,

My rotax 582 is changing colour a bit. I think it's a form of aluminium rust. The aluminium is a darker gray in places. Does anyone know of anything that will remove this? Someone said ZEB oven cleaner? HUH!

VERY mild hydrochloric acid, often marketed as alminium cleaner will get ally castings looking brand new again. Mist on and wash off with water imediately.
But beware, it will turn magnesium parts dark grey-black.
