Microlighting in Peru

Postby Biggles » Tue Feb 12, 2008 6:18 am

Well been in Lima for 2 weeks now. Managed to track down the only two trikers in the country through another web forum (viva la internet). After contacting Danilo and Petric (who speaks english) I was invited to go flying that Sunday.

It struck me the dedication of the only two people to be doing something like that alone. To make matters worse no hanger has been made with a trike in mind so the wings have to come off after every flight.

Went for a flight down the pacific coast to lima and along the cliffs that separate the city from the sea. Weather was perfect and apparently 12 hours flying weather a day in the summer. Winter is misty so maybe 2-3 days a week.

Anyway I have had my fix and now DNP will be crated up and shipped here. Anyone know any friendly shipping companies?.

Flying here is how it should be... radios are for chatting, microlights stay low, big jets stay high, military are civilised enough not to fly on week-ends... have heard no mention od 300hour crank replacement iether;) No license necessary, no registration necessary.

Petric is an aeronautical engineer with over 1000hours on trikes and learned to fly while studying in the Ukraine... so aeros wings all around. He has also got several hundred aerobatics hours. Danilo, is some sort of mechanic (no hablo inglese) so no other details...

Trikes are an antiles with an Aeros Profi wing and a Sabre with a Aeros Stranger wing. 503 and Cellini engines respectively.
