Language proficiency test?

Postby Duck Rogers » Sat Feb 09, 2008 10:05 pm

Like the 300hr crank issue, I hear all sorts about this.
Can someone please tell me if this is still on the cards at CAA? Are they enforcing it or not?
Does this mean I have to cough up R700.00 (hearsay) to do this test when my license is due in May this year?

Hi Quack-Mate,

You are lucky. This has been deferred to at least 1 June 2008.

Yes, sooner or later, you'll need this test.

Not so much your ability to converse, in English with fellow pilots and ATC, but to understand the broad interpretation of English as used by some ATC's and now the R15.00 weather specialist phone call.

A quick understanding of some politicians will help, perhaps a signed advidavit stating you've watched more than one hour's continuous coverage of the Parliament channel.

Just hang a few weeks, we're waiting for our new business venture to be accredited by the competition board, BEE certified and then approved by the CAA to issue, online, ATF, Language profishionsee tests and a whole lot more.

Exciting times ahead.

Just read on avcom that the language test is not applicable to MPL's.
