Hi all
Normally the other way round. But I have ppl and some 3-axis microlights on my license with plenty plus hours. What do I have to do to get a rating for a trike?
Roughly how many hours will be needed for a conversion? Can I use my own trike for the conversion? I am going to buy one.
Advise will be appreciated.

Can do a conversion until part 62 becomes law 1/1/08. Takes as long as it takes to lean not to pull in the flair and that rydaar feet do not control where you are going. i went from 3 axis to trike and was ready for solo in 4.8hrs. Never finished it though
. I would guestimate 10-15 hrs to be safe.... Could be shorter if you not flying 3 axis in between while you learning. Some can, others battle. i found it easy if i was not flying 3 axis. if i drove to the field i had a great lesson. if i flew in in my blik I caused a couple white knuckle moments more often. Trike instructors usually
and some even
when a 3 axis boy strides over for trike convex...
I am hoping to finish mine before the end of the year. Any volunteers near harties for the said White Knuckle experience....

Find yourself a genuine 'A' Grade Instructor - not a "Wanna Bee Top Gun".
Spend some time on the ground recapping the principles.
Sit front seat for 3 hours (say 4 or 5 lessons).
Try for an Aquilla 503 (better suspension than Windlass) for your type of operation. Discuss this fully with your elected 'A' Grade in terms of your mass, pax intentions, altitude etc.

It has always been in the back of my mind to get into Trikes.
Let me go for a lesson first and then I will decide
How many hours do you think it should take to convert??
These Trikes also do not need much runway is that correct.
I am talking a very basic 503 powered machine.
Where can I do conversion in this area?
Let's see how it goes
