Seems a bit over the top in terms of price I bought a toy RC heli from Toyzone for a few hundred ZAR. Great for indoor flying

Not sure Mr San, will have a look at home and will let you know. Not a great toy for outside but pretty cool when weather confines a man indoors. The kids think it is cool as well.

This is great. I have a hole Data Center to play indoors with, BUT $300 is a bit wild. Does anybody know where i can go and look for a nice cheap indoor aircraft? Maybe on the east rand somewhere

Toyzone were sold out and about as helpful as t@ts on a bull.

BUT

Reggies (fourways) I guess most will have them had a little helicopter called a Picoo 2. Awesome fun. R 300.00. Charges off the batteries in the remote. 5-8 mins per 20 min charge but i klapped a set of batteries in a day. EXCELLENT fun. Only good for flyng indoors, so light that wind completely kills it. Also very skittish so keep them well away from water features and pools, get it wet and its bust.

2 mins to master how to fly and then the challenges begin. Can you fly it round the lounge, underneath the dining room table, through the kitchen hatch and land it back on the coffee table..

Great for a rainy day.

You hit the nail on the head Dish, great on a rainy day. My boys love chasing the thing around the lounge. As my wife said "Boys and their toys"!

Its the closest I am getting to flying at the moment

I've got one of these, but must say, it flies a bit k@k...!

It takes a bit of practice. Hovers well but you do need to weight the nose so that it flies forward. Other than that it does okay.

My lightie (15) and I each have a Lama V3 which costs around R1 200.00

It has a co-axial rotor system which means no tail rotor and it flies really well. Spares are readily available and not that expensive.

Beauty of it is that the PC Simulator costs about R300 and works very well so the cockroach doesnt come off the cork as easily.

Here is a tip from my son... if its looking away from you, fly the nose: If its looking at you, fly the tail... works!!

Annoys me that he flies it better than I do... at least I still fly my gyro better than he does.. (for now)

I bought a Walkera 4 for R1300 ready to fly, not as easy as the indoor models but was quoted R2700 from local hobbie shop.
