Klipriver airfield - Many hangars broken into and vandalised
Several Hangars have been broken into at Klipriver Airfield and there`s
Aircraft "stuff" lying around. Those of you who are currently hangaring there I sugest to take a drive out.

We've just gone the whole hog at the Circus Airfield. Pepper gas system with armed response and there are guys living on the property that work as security guards. A student used to lecture at Vaal University but now has designed a stand alone system with back up battery etc, (without power: Klip - maybe a small solar panel would be needed) for about R2900. GSM based, it can be armed via cellphone, will set off an alarm and notify 2 numbers via sms/missed call. Many other functions....but it works...! Not a plug for the company.....but it could save massive cash and damage. See www.Secucell.co.za
Now doesnt that sound familiar....
Springs(FASI) used to be a safe place where you can hanger without any concerns.
The past 11/2 year it has all changed. We've had countless burglaries into hangers, the pub(Silwer Wings) and cars stolen or broken into while pilots are out flying.
On top of this is all our electrical cable being stolen that powers the runway lights. Each time we replace it, "they" just come and steal it again....!
Currently night landings at Springs were stopped.
A week ago they broke into Rudi Greyling who's on this forums hanger. Now Rudi and Angelo really did everything to secure that hanger with one mean alarm system ect and the side door of the hanger that goes into the house was secured with a steel sheet infront.
They simply just used a "koevoet" and broke open that solid steel door, kicked open the wooden door and with the alarm going, only manage to steal a R300 kettle, but R2500 damage

Bastards, bastards, bastards. It seriously pisses me off. The lack of regard for someone elses property. I don't give a damn how hungry you are. If you can't find a job or have nowhere to turn to, have a peasefull ha, ha, ha demonstration and make it YOUR government's problem.
Sorry to hear about this . Hope it wasn't too serious.
