Where exactly from and to. (Co-ords will help) The official trike WORLD Speed over a closed circuit of 50 km without landing : 146.7 km/h, set recently by GT450. (Demon you snoozed)
Speed over a closed circuit of 50 km without landing : 146.7 km/h
Date of flight: 21/08/2006
Pilot: Richard MEREDITH-HARDY (UK)
Course/place: Bonneville Salt Flats, UT (USA)

Microlight:
P & M Quik GT 450

Speed over a closed circuit of 100 km without landing : 129.11 km/h
Microlight:
ESO 13

Speed over a closed circuit of 500 km without landing : 100.33 km/h
Based on assumption of springs to Balito, it is around 115km/h. If it was 50km further and he did all the paperwork beforehand he coupld possibly have claimed the world record for flight over 500km closed course...

With the plethora of new 450's in SA this may be worth looking at... http://records.fai.org/microlight/

All the current records at http://records.fai.org/microlight/current.asp?id=RWL2.

There are none in SA, so YES this would have been the offical record for the Jhb - Durbs route in SA...

Maybe Mike B can shed some light on the above and how it works. I assume MISASA is the appointed affiliate of the FAI WRT microlights (Class R) in SA? Here is the link for the power flying boys (Class C) http://www.sapfa.org.za/records/records_rules.php

I am (later in the year when things calm down a bit) planning to have a go on a weekend at setting all the single eng piston resords in SA. . Not tough, since there are none    , but just to get it on the map. may also be fun as the same courses required are set out for each class of aerie. (Trikes, single, duel, 3 axis, land, sea etc) Maybe have it as part of a fly away. Kalahari Bundu bash would have been perfect, but it too close to PTAR

Nice speed.

I did Solitude Airfield to La Mercy in 4hours 6mins (4.1 on the hobbs) in an Aircreation Racer fitted with 503 motor.

Route flown was Solitude, Heidelberg, Standerton, Newcastle, Dundee, La Mercy.

This time included circuits and taxi time at Standerton and Newcastle where I topped up fuel.

Actual flying was about 3.9hobbs.

After figuring out my consumption, I calculated that it was safe to do Newcastle - La Mercy in one stop.

This time was made possible by strong North Westerly winds.

My average IAS was 65mph.
