Coastal Flying - Munster

Postby Luan » Sat Feb 22, 2014 5:03 pm

Hi fellow Micro-lighters,

I Recently took a trip down to the South-Coast and decided to trailer my trike along, so I thought id share my experiences with my fellow aviators. I phoned Vernon on the forum and he promptly organized me a spot in their newly renovated hangar in Munster, he even helped me to rig my trike when I arrived, gave me a lot of pointers and advice. Being a low hour pilot (+-100 Hrs) I was quite intimidated by the wind at the coast. Armed with Vernon's advice my worries were soon forgotten as I experienced the amazing climb rate and power being developed by my usually "tame" little Windlass 503. This however paled in comparison to the absolutely breath taking scenery of the Wild Coast, massive gorges, waterfalls, wild life, and the remote beaches of the Transkei. I knew the experience was something special when my normally ground loving better half started waking me up in the mornings and asking if we could go flying. It was an unforgettable adventure and I would recommend it to everyone! Below are some Pics extracted from my GoPro vids

Heya Vernon,

How are things going with your challenger?

When are you going to the UK?

I have taken the leave at the end of April, so will definitely see you then, and my bird should be in the air very soon.

Hi Craig.
Sent you an Email last night. To add to it. I managed to get hold of Mpho this morning. She will be ringing me back just now. Lets hope!! I will let you know.
I thought you made the bookings for two trikes with the rest of the Kroon blokes, at the beginning of April. I will have to go back to my outbox. the age thing, you know.
Cheers,
Vernon.

Kevin,

I must warn you that your Mate from further South is planning on coming through during that time too... It was me sitting next to Darrel when he called you asking you to find him an Aquilla or Raptor in EL he wanted me to take him flying...

From my perspective, whether Darrel makes it up in that week or not I will definitely be coming down for a visit...

Heya Vern,

I got your mail, if you need me to pop in and sit at Mpho's desk till she has an answer just let me know...

As for April, it is the same week as the Kroon guys will be there well at least I think it is the same week, I just heard today though that the other guy I booked for won't be making it... I am coming down on the 26th April and leaving again on the 5th May... so now just one trike for the duration...

I hope you have a fantastic time in the UK

I have spoken to Mpho a couple of times today. Now I have to get Dean (I bought from him)to sign some new forms. Shit this is driving me insane. I am going up to Empangeni tomorrow. I will go to Deans farm and hopefully get him to sign again.
After all this crap, I think I am going to enjoy the wind, rain, and cold.
Cheers,
Vern
