Tips i Need please and thanks

Postby KWV » Thu Dec 20, 2012 4:27 pm

Hi gents i need some quick confirmations on some things all of this in on my Aquila 2 wing

1.On my wing i have a small tear about the size of a 10 cent piece how can i fix this ?

2.When i reassembled the wing the two Cables that pulled the wing open under the wing is on one side of the King post they are not twisted just to one side Trike flies fine like this , do i need to split them each to a side or is this fine ?

3.My A frame is a bit loose this i don't like its wiggly can i leave it like this ?

4.Inside the wing there is a loose piece of covering cloth inside the wing its just dangling inside

5.and finally , one of the bolts in the wing inspection latch is not facing up its facing down all the others on the other side is facing the other way , these are now where your flying wires attach to the wing , must it be changed or do i leave

with all of the above the trike flies fine not pulling to one side or nothing just don't want to leave something that can become a problem

KWV, point 1 can be fixed by putting a patch on it. What colour is the problem area? You can get these patches from Solowings; colour black is generally self adhesive (same as you reg letters) and can be put over the small tear.

The other points, I truely believe I am not knowledgable enough to make comments.

Hi KWV where are you based? I would really suggest you get an AP to inspect and advice you on what to do

Cheers

on point 5... I know about 10 years ago when I still had my windlass... all the bolts were facing down (nut on the bottom). Solowings changed their spec to have all bolts facing up so that the tension is on the head of the bolt and not on the nut and thread. Had to have them turned round to comply. I would also recommend you have an AP give the wing a thourough going over.
