Buffelspoort AD - WARNING

Postby John.com » Fri Aug 24, 2012 10:10 am

If you are flying in the Magaliesberg area please be aware that Louis is presently upgrading the airstrip at Buffelspoort and so you should expect the runway to be in any state of construction, and at times be unusable.

So please be VERY careful in assessing the condition of the airstrip by overflying before landing. The surface may be soft (not compacted) or layerwork material may be in piles or be graded into windrows (long rows of material) . ## ##

Buffelspoort details as follows:

Coordinates: 25°48'2.41"S 27°30'58.91"E
Runways : 09/27
Altitude : 4380ft
Frequency : 124.800
Cautionary : Uphill on 27, downhill on 09 (apex at western end of airstrip)

When I landed there about 2 weeks ago, Louis said he is busy tarring the strip and they are working as and when construction people are available. Should take about a year.
