Assistance with croc survey along Olifants river

Postby Stan » Thu Apr 19, 2012 11:13 am

Hi all

I work for the conservation department in Limpopo and am responsible for monitoring the biodiversity of the province. During March I did a helicopter survey of the crocs and hippos in the Olifants river between Loskop and the Kruger Park boundary. For some obscure reason the data logged along the Flag Boshielo dam did not get saved on the computer. I now sit with a data set that has a gap where I was most keen to see what is going on. In years gone by we did surveys with trikes flying from Groblersdal Flying Club which worked quite well.

I am interested to hear if there is still any microlight activity in the area and if anybody would be willing to help do a survey from Loskop to Flag Boshielo Dam. Three or four trikes would be great. If there is any interest, I will do the necessary planning and possibly a wors braai when we are done. There are two of us from the department who would need to fly with. My MPL expired years ago and I dont have a two seater otherwise I would have done it myself.

Regards

Stan
