A Memorial Proposal

Postby Bundy » Tue May 31, 2011 7:11 am

Hi There everyone,

I was a bit hesitant to post this so soon after this weekends tragic events but here goes...

Eventhough I did not personally know either Wally or George Brink, I dont think there is anyone in our Aviation Community who is not aware of the immense contribution they have made to our sport over the years. It is clear that they both had a deep passion for anything "Aviation" and their passing will be felt for a long time to come. :(

In the spirit of "Microlighters" I thought we could name a fly in after them so that those who knew them would be able to remember them by taking part in what I believe will become an Annual Event... The Zwartkops Fly In?

It is a very special event as it is really not often... If ever... that we Ultralights are able to fly in to a military base and I think it will be a very fitting memorial to two men who loved to fly?

Perhaps I have spoken up too soon? I hope I am not offending anyone in this difficult time but I really feel that we should give guys like Wally and George a fitting memorial?

Would appreciate your thoughts? My deepest condolences to those who knew them best.

Boy that will be an upbeat event !!!!! - have no problem with the memorial for George at Swartkops, think thats a great idea but a fly in every year ?? dont we all just remember them fondly in our own ways every day ??? - Imho a yearly memorial would be helllllll of a depressing event, we have lost a good few good lads,,,,???

dunno - just my thoughts

Good idea Bundy!

I flew with George on several occasions (in the ill fated C182RG too). He had a passion for flying and I am sure that this will celebrate their times with us.

I'm in and I have faxed my forms for the FASK fly in, to join in with the Jabi.

Jaco

<EDIT> I agree with Dish too, lets not make it a "heavy" thing.

Hi Patches
I agree with Gavin - Tailspin. We lose a few Flying buddies each year and the "Something like Z.F.C.F. Zwartkopps Fallen Comrads Fly-in" sounds good to me. Like a Tribute to all fallen Buddies.

We do not have to make it too heavy.
The Biggest Idea is to Remember them, Not to have a :( Cry :( every time but to have a cuppa and a get together to say Boys we Remember you.

It is Just an Idea, I would like to have a special Day to say for all our friends we are enjoying what we do and WE REMEMBER YOU :!:
