I trust you had an enjoyable festive season and that you are all looking forward to a year where the economy will favour us all.
Andre Swanepoel, Piet Fourie and myself had discussions this morning after meeting up with a few fellow aviators over this period. It would seem that there is a definite need to interact more, at the various clubs, flight schools etc. We are in the planning phase of a road show and we plan to visit,
i. Cape Town
ii. Durban
iii. Nelspruit
iv. Pietersburg
v. Kimberley
vi. Port Elizabeth
vii. JHB/Pretoria
We would then like to discuss, and if needed, educate members on legislation, maintenance practices, Approved Persons, the build processes etc.
The intention is to visit the various locations, by starting on a Thursday and having the time to interact with people during the day and also in the evenings. We can then have the workshop/presentations the Friday and Saterday evenings and then leave again on the Sunday. We think that we will be able to clarify the questions when conducting this. Could you suggest places to get together at the identified towns?
Also forward me your ideas and questions, we would like to try to answer your questions during the visits?

We would really like you to visit East London Wings Park as well. Please consider including usin the light of us trying very hard to start a flight school now that no other microlight school exists in the Eastern cape since Grahamstown has now also closed!

Pta/Jhb might be to big an area to cover at one venue. Obviously dependend on your resources, it would be ideal to split it into the Special Rules East, South and West areas.

Roel, thank you for input, we have included this in the planning. (I am just in two minds about Rand, is Springs not maybe the place where we have more NTC Aircraft). Alan, we could meet up with you regarding the Backhouse runway in Douglas, when we do the Kimberley visit. We can also visit you whilst conducting surveillance visits.

As you all may know, we have approx 5400 NTC Aircraft on register. It would seem that only half of them are active. There are also approx 400 kits in the process of being assembled. And then, topping all of this we only have approx 200 Approved Persons. (Looking at them all, they only get older and we do not get enough knowledgeable new AP's into the system.) It is becomming more and more difficult for owners to have their aircraft maintained. The newer aircraft being registered, are also becomming more complex, this includes the Van's RV's, the Velocities, etc
We would like to interact with you all, to ensure that the support required, is forthcomming. In reading through the various forums, i do notice that members do not always know where to find the information required. The questions answered can be easily resolved if the members knew where to look. As an example, who has lately looked at http://www.rotax-aircraft-engines.com/d ... x/tabid-49, to asertain the status of their engines. It is easy to do and you can find all the information relevant to YOUR engine. You can also download all the newest updated manuals.
We would like to discuss, and if needed, educate members on legislation, maintenance practices, Approved Persons, the build processes, modification process etc. I need your inputs to prepare for these sessions. Please let me know what else i should prepare for?
