Best flying in 450 hours

Postby t-bird » Tue Jul 20, 2010 2:30 pm

I had the privilege to fly to some awesome places in my Gyro with great friends.

The place were among the following:
Okavango swamps, Victoria falls , Kariba, Cahora bassa, Paradise island , Bazaruto , Visriver canyon , Zambesi rivirer, Chobe, Makgadi pans, Sunrise at Margate,Drakensberg Mountains, Bushveld, Lowveld, Free state,

But the best flying was with my son Carel to a game farm on the Limpopo river.

Carel is 7 years old and this was his first long trip.
We took off from Summit close to Grand central and routed to Thabazimbi. We were talking the whole time enjoying the scenery and game. We saw herds of Giraffe ,Buffalo, Sable , Oryx , Ostriches ,Jackal , Rhinos and lots more.

Landed at Thabazimbi after an hour, had a quick drink and leg stretch and then routed towards the border.

Landed on the game farm after another hour of flying.

Had an awesome evening sitting around the fire watching the stars and braaing some meat.

Flew back the next morning with a nice tailwind what a trip.

Thought I would share it with you guys.

Attached is a photo of the trip.

Good instructors always speak well about all flying machines.
Bad instructors speak badly about machines they cannot fly.

This is fantastic, brings back so many good memories! I am privileged to have a similar good relationship with my father and we share a couple of similar trips! Its the best bonding time you can have with your father and vise versa!

Actually bring tears to my eyes!

Kudos to you, it seems like he really enjoyed it! ## (^^) (^^) (^^)

Hey Grumpy, don't get us started. 5 guys, each with over 1000 pics. We could keep you busy for a year.

It's not about getting you started, I will probably never get the chance to see these places myself. So as I also fly a little, just a mere visualize can be a thrill (**)

Thanks T-bird, hopefully and with a bit of luck, my chance to fly to those far away places will still happen. (^^)

Some more pics of our trip. Maybe the mods would prefer it if we opened up a whole new topic.

Awesome trip, I have it on the cards for next year if all goes well. (^^) You don't perhaps a easyplan route plan for this? Would appreciate it. Will save me lots of planning time.

Stefan
