Waterkloof / Swartkops

Postby pietmeyer » Thu Jul 15, 2010 11:32 am

Hi Guys

Now that the soccer is finished and no FAC' needed, it is flying time for those that did nof fly during the last month vhpy

Now the big question.

Is Wonderboom still in need of money? Who was the guy who said that a fly-in to Wonderboom or Swartkops can be arrange? Will pay good money just to fly there for a morning. How about a boerie and a coke breakfast there?

Hallo Piet

Dit was Waterkloof AFB. They asked for funds to upgrade the tower's social side.

viewtopic.php?f=1&t=12854&p=128348&hili ... er#p128348

I would love to see this one happen. Can you imagine a microlight fly-inn to such a central venue ?

It is within 30 minutes for Aeroden, Aviators paradise, Bapsfontein, Brits, Ingwe, Jag, Kitty Hawk, Kroon, Microland, Petit, Rhino, Rieties, and which-ever I left out (apologies) alphabetically ! I am sure on the right day one could gather 150 - 180 microlights !

Edit die topic se naam na "AFB Waterkloof Fly-inn" gan sal jy die reaksie sien en met die regte connections kan ons iets reel.

AFB Zwartkops would be as good. Anyone have connections with the SAAF Museum at AFB Zwartkops ?

I did discuss the possibility of landing at Swartkop base, whilst applying for my security clearance number during the Confederations Cup Last year. The Commanding Officer at the time(name escapes me) indicated that it was no problem. He did, however, stress that a flight plan would have to be filed before such a landing would be possible. He had absolutely no objection and(jokingly) wanted to know if he could have the Air Force band ready for the mass landing( we would have been 5 trikes)

I suggest that we make contact again and arrange a date for a fly-inn on a Saturday morning sometime in the not too distant future. I think that it would be awesome!!!

AFB Waterkloof Fly-inn

Postby pietmeyer » Fri Jul 16, 2010 4:03 pm

Weel, I am sure if this is organized that you will have at least 50 trikes flying in. If you throw in a boerie roll and a coke I will pay double and for an extra circuit another R50 vhpy
Imagine R100 per trike and 50 trikes, gyro or other aircraft R5000 easy money.

So, for those that have authority or knwo somebody that has the authority, please aarange either AFB Waterkloof or Zwartkops fly-in

Please, pretty please (-) (-) (-) (-) (-)

I have another idea.
Many of us weekend warriors never get the opportunity to land at these masssive air-strips.
Given that FAWK recently underwent a face-lift, I was toying with the idea of asking them to invite all GA to a Saturday or Sunday fly-in.

Why don't the ATC's there arrange something like that and all pilots pay a landing fee and buy a boeri-roll, the proceeds then go towards their re-furb. It's a win-win.
'Twas me guys. I'm still willing to make contact and help organise. I was also just trying to lie low for a few more weeks until I've got a plane again so that I can share in the fun. While I'm still Johnny Walker I suppose I can get things moving. Will keep you posted.

Of Course it was you Old No 7, apologies. Whether it be Waterkloof or Zwartskops, I do believe this could be made a big one. PLEASE ask me to assist. You have my assistance. And let all profits go to WK tower or the Air Force museum.

When ?

Hijack: Topic heading has changed from "Waterkloof/Swartkops" to "Wonderboom / Swartkops" to "Waterkllof / Swartkops" and now back to "Waterkloof / Swartkops" (**) Scroll and see what I mean.

Mcfly, you have good news there, thanks.

Maybe you are already in contact with him, but if this will help, Col. W. Nel is boss of the SAAF Museum at Swartkops. Telephone 012-3512289.

Pray this fly inn will realize ... vhpy
