Transferring ownership

Postby rod smith » Tue Mar 03, 2009 12:12 am

What does one need to take to CAA to transfer ownership of a microlight aircraft?

I recently went to CAA to re-register a Mooney, and it all went quickly and without problems. We merely filled in the form off the CAA website, and took it in, along with the relevant ID copies, etc. Does one use the same forms. Someone was speaking of a microlight needing a new authority to fly for transfer to be effected. Is this correct?

We don't yet have the aircraft, but I need to confirm these details as they could have a bearing on the contract of sale.

Thanks.

NTCA ATF is issued to the owner and not the aircraft unlike TCA, so that is 100% correct. ATF will expire as soon as CAR47A is processed as the ATF is not transferable. Usually you would get a new ATF inspection done as part of the deal and get new a ATF issued at same time as owner details are changed. When I sold Cubby it incl. new ATF inspection and change of ownership and new ATF were issued in 1 day.

Hi 4ker (I quite like that, but clearly it's been said often enough before!)

Working on the Cheetah. But I'll have to wait until the deal is comlpete, our money is in his bank and we are clutching all the processed doc's. I've seen too many sales go down the tube over the years. Will fill you in in a day or two, I hope.

Thanks, Stephan

Will pop in on you when all is finalised and conversion to type has been done. I haven't been to Petit before and it will be another new one for me.
