MMM... I hear there are some seriously low flying jets about Hoedspruit, but I will be to the north of the Hoedspruit TMA, on 123.45...

Yes, there is a MIL base somewhere to the south, but I plan no kamikaze with mirages...

Hoedspruit is in Mpumalanga... Bushveld, lowveld, low altitude, high performance trike ACTION...

No escarpment galavanting for me ... ZU-AXC is going on the back of the trailer for the trip down and back up... Low altitude jets in the toolbox and upon the arrival they will be going in...

Dream about flying while they bitch and moan about not having anywhere to fly to, ATNS charges, WX, wind, cost of flying etc....

PS
Unfortunatley till Jabi bring out 6 seater my Sunday arvies are with Fam. RV can only take 1 (2 at push), so those left behind give mom a hell of a hard time, so we all stay     to keep the peace....  (That why I am able to hook up with you in week, until kids learn to use net then they will know I sneeking off to sky (playground) without them.

Off to Bapsfontein, met one Bushbaby just taken off.
Off to Microland - one trike in the sky and a couple of guys on the ground
What do pilots do on Sunday afternoons :?: :?
They do their 25hr maintenance :(

demon, I thought it was you. There I was on the ground cleaning my airfilter :(

Did 40 minutes of circuits in two sessions around Saldanha on Saturday. Haven't flown for nearly two months due to work and lousy weather and just to make things easier had to train on a Windlass instead of the usual Safari (engine kaput). Amazingly all my landings were pretty good so was very pleased with my day in the office. Probably had something to do with the fact that we flew a reduced circuit which didn't give me time to think about what I was doing as well as it being $@$%ing cold up there. Now have just over 6 hours under the belt.

Went to the Vaal dam with a mean tailwind so decided not to go too far, knowing I'd have a hard time getting back. My GPS gave a max ground speed of 101Mph going there. The return was oh-so-slow, guys on bicycles were passing me.
As an experiment, I pushed the bar forward with a bit less than cruise power, till the wing gave me a bump to tell me it was ready to stop flying, my track log later revealed a minimum speed of 7.8 Mph. So if I was about to stall at 30Mph indicated airspeed, less say 8Mph ground speed, that leaves a headwind component of 22Mph - that's about 19 Knots. Does this sound right ??
Judging by the radio traffic on Special Rules East, Circus had the action, in hindsight I should have visited there for coffee and saved myself a butt-numbing return from the damn dam. The landing back at Klipriver into a stiff but steady wind provided one of my shortest landing rolls ever!!
Altogether, still an enjoyable outing.
Cheers.

Did they have U/C problems and based on skid marks seems they were still at speed at end of runway (Thresh of 19)?

At last I was back in the sky :D :D :D :D
After 4 weeks of nothing I got in 2.3 hours of instruction and feel sooooo much better now. So much better that in fact I am going to take Friday off to make it a long weekend and get some more hours in.
Did low level passes, re-capped 6-11 and did engine out landing (out-field). This is just so cool :D :D :D
Wish I had started many years ago.
By the way, in line with this forum subject, I flew an Aquilla 503!
