Hi Larry

I think I will take you up on an overnight offer. I have my own home in Kenton, but would enjoy a kuier where I drive up to Grahamstown, only 50 odd km from Kenton. I was going to fly in but it would inconvenience the other guys who are with me. I would love to chew the fat for a while just going through the entire aerie. I wish a good mate of mine was not back up in Chad cos he is building the conventional tail model & he would have loved to get the building tips. His nickname on avcom was Lardbeast.

I will be in touch closer to the time.

Good luck with the wx, old Grumps says he thinks it will be a lovely machine in the air & I could not believe my ears when an old stalwart embraced new technology right down to Jabi motor.

I think you will have many fast hours in her affordably.

Fine looking piece of kit, Larry. Well done and congrats!

I've been scratching about in the regs and see the proving flights have to be conducted within 100km of the home airfield but no mention of whether out landings are allowed while under the proving regimen. Anyone with more info? Might like to do some touch and gos at a quieter field than where I'm building in order to avoid winding up the students in the circuit as I intend keeping the speed up for cooling purposes.

I'm green with envy, mate. Can't wait to get to the stage you are...

Lovely Larry, you must be proud, it is too late to phone Grumpy, but I will call him tomorrow to get his input, but my feeling is that is she looks right, she flies right, wonderful to see her in the sky. Well done

Hi All

Thanks for the pics, was out of office yesterday, so didnt get to the comp much.

Yip, all looks good! Wind was blowing - Bob coulgnt get out of bed! 15 odd mph, varying from 10 - 60 deg cross wind. Take off roll of about 200 m, bob held her tail down for a while, and once released all wheels basically came off together.
Temps all looked good, cruise of about 130mph.
Nice low level fly past, - very quiet, looks and sounds great! Some more flying, then approach and landing. I need to work on the throttle - very short throw, and engine dies if you pull back hard, so bob had a nice dead stick landing, from about 3 m above ground!

Says he needed right rudder, so now I know where to install the trim tab - in fact installed yesterday pm. Hopefully that will sort out the right rudder problem. Says aelerons were nice balanced. Plane twitchy, but I think that is what we wanted and expected.

Bob sounded pleased!

So, hopefully more flying this weekend, and then to finish the balance of the 25 proving hours!

Moving to the sandpit at the end of the month (Abu Dhabi) so won't get a chance to fly in her for a while but will be back hopefully in a couple months time for a a few flick flacks and by that time Larry will have managed to learn how to do those
