For info I use Shell Advance S which is mineral based, readily available and reasonably priced. Been used on my trike since new and I see that even Solo Wings stock and sell this product.

Quentin personally I would not use an exotic hard to find product that is synthetic. What if you need some on a flyaway?

Mineral based and synthetic just donÃ¢â‚¬â„¢t mix and will react with disastrous results. For this reason I would be reluctant to change from one to the other.

Using a higher temp oil i.e. the Super Chainsaw in a 582 would be fine

I have just finished my first 20L drum of Castrol Super Chainsaw oil on my Silver top 582 with no ill effects , motor still runs as smooth as a dream!

Friend that flys with me has a contact a Castrol , we get it directly from them.

We have a depo here in Newcastle where we get oils very cheap!!!

Anybody can buy directly from the Castrol Depots. The only problem is you have to go in there. I used to buy by the box, R197 for 20 X 500ml bottles. (R9.85 each). I like the bottles because they are the perfect package and volume for 25l of fuel

I'm sure you could phone them, order the stuff and do a money/internet transfer, then get a courier to collect it for you. You'll pay the extra courier fees but it still will be cheaper than the R30 to R40 per 500ml you are paying at the moment.

I only use BP VISTRA premium performance synthetic 2 stroke oil on my trikes.I normally buy 2x5 litres,and there is always a spare 500ml in the saddle bag of my trike.
When I plan to do a flyaway,I also plan to take a 5lt or so with.
The carbon in the motors seems to be less with the synthetic oils.
(I buy the oil from an oil depot here in Potties).
