I was at Overberg but didn't see any demo. I did hear about it from the Jora manufacturers. Almost in competition with the Garmin 1000 but much cheaper and local is lekker :D

I have not seen the M5, but assume it will have built in GPS and will have a couple built in gps spoecific buttons. Else 3600a is also an option, but don't know it will work with easycockpit.

The guys are developing a full glass cockpit option using 1 or 2 10.4” sunlight readable LCDs displaying EasyCockpit on the one and a Primary Flight Display (PFD – artificial horizon, IAS, altitude, VSI, compass heading) on the other. There were demoed at the Overberg and Ysterplaat airshows, but I missed both. Anyone see them there?
George,
Who is "The Guys" you are refering to, the easycockpit software guys?

M5 runs WINDOWS the 3600 runs PALM

It does not look like it has the dedicated buttons like the 3600a, unless it is an addon.

aviation direct guys.

Been liasing with them on email, but can't get roll out plan for the new system.

I am planning a new instrument panel for the RV. Can't afford the G1000, so was planning a touch screen motor drive display with laptop as backend to drive easycockpit, cockpit & wing mounted TV's & couple other odds & bobs. Couple manufacturers have remote compass & gyro instruments which will interface with a PC to give simple EFIS, but by sounds of it Easycockpit guys are already busy with something similar so I may just wait rather than reinvent the wheel as I have no clue and all is trial and error.

Was looking at TrueMap Software from true flight

but got this responce which was a bit
I asked the president of our company about this. He’s actually not even sure if our software would be legal to sell to you in South Africa.
Still waiting to see if we qualify in deepest darkest Africa?

Below the display. Space in the RV front office is at a premium, so main attraction is can be stowed when not in use (I keep bumpin knees gettin in and out on GPS, PDA, ipod etc which are not flush mounten on panel - yes space is tight & I couple craps behind). I do not have space to mount it on panel and keep existing steam gauges (which I would want to do until all possible problems sorted out). Also touch screen input give PDA ease of use with double display size and no wires to cirgarette charger, stylus, GPS etc.

I saw the units at the EAA show at Wonderboom earlier in the year. They used the AH unit from MGL Avionics as input for the PFD. It was running on a two 10" Sony VIAO screens and looked very groovy. The screens were a bit iffy in direct sunlight, but a number of good small displays/tablet pc's have been released since.

Rainier is also now making a GPS receiver, so if these guys work together, they should be able to produce a very nice solution.

The ipac works as a cell phone so you can listen to music, dial your mates order tea whilst flying via the intercomms system. I still wouldnt carry the phone whilst flying though..but it works well.

In a moment of techno madness I bought 2 iPAQ PocketPCs a couple of years ago (the 1900) which I used for a while (and my wife for even less). I want to upgrade my GPS, and would like to know from those in the know,

a) Can I use this iPAQ with Easycockpit (the memory requirement is more than the 47MB available, but it has a memory card port)
b) which GPS receiver to hook onto it,
3) what powersource do you use in flight

I will GIVE the 2nd iPAQ to anyone who can come up with a configuration/setup instructions to make this work.

If I remember correctly, the 1900 does not have a serial com port or bluetooth. This makes connecting to the GPS impossible. You would need at least a 2110 to get EasyCockpit going.
