My Bushbaby, 912 has a little Silverton radiator (R550) and a little Silverton oil cooler (R700) and it flies damn lekker.

R4500 for a radiator and R2200 for a oil cooler, hmmm, now let me think about this for a bit.

AAAAAA Morph, But your Silverton items are not for "aviation" .......

If the supplier from aboard are willing to supply Rotax spares to not- the original suppliers in SA,
Then the rest is easy enough..
Should we not do that research and then try to bypass our SA suppliers ???

I honestly don't think they are much cheaper overseas or elsewhere - this is why I siad - rotax themselves is running some sort of ripoff/price fixing all over and this is why I am hoping that another manufacturer will appear on the scene. Once one company has a monopoly worldwide you will simply bend over and get shafted. What we need is the likes of yamaha/honda/suzuki to come on board and produce similar products. Have any of you looked at the yamaha genesis engine. Sadly no snowmobiles in SA but if you have a bit of time read this thread - very interesting.... http://www.rotaryforum.com/forum/showthread.php?t=16100

Not defending anyone (Price is only reason Animal does not have 912), but I got new part xyz CAA compliant log books there and they were cheaper than any of the other pilot shops.

Question is who is making the ridiculous amount of money. The manufacturer or the agent.

My money is on the agent.

The fact that Rotax allows them to put on a huge markup and they all stick to the markup is a different story.

They probably don't update the whole web page as frequently as the price fluctuates. Just phone them and have a pleasant conversation with the sales manager.

I got serious discount (10% less than competitor's advertised price) on a serious gps after telling them what prices others were selling and it was couriered to my door within 36 hours of my inquiry.

I'm going deviate slightly please excuse me. I had a similar situation when me chlorinator packed up on my pool 3 weeks ago. Took it to the "agents" New one R6.5k..Hmm! that or new wings sails for the Challenger? Question Can it be repaired? Reply Yes no problem R3.2k! Green pool? No new Challenger wings??? Can't fly. Do we want to swim in a green pool in summer? Eish difficult situation here. Result, had it repaired, but I did give them a run trying desperately to get the price down. The best churp I had from these gangsters was... " Just think, you putting food on somebody else's table tonight!" Shite! I was totally deflated! Paid walked away and yes felt raped too. ..and yes I did import the new Challie wings too!! Hehe I can swim and yes I can FLY :!: :!:

I think I know that the answer to my question is that these guys have the sole agency for Rotax engines. But here is the question anyway: Where do the jetski owners buy their spare parts? Is there a jetski service centre that may just have a different set of rip-off structures?

Rod Smith

All the Bombardier and Can am quads run with Rotax as well as the Seadoo jetski's, all servived by waterworld. Also hellishly expensive and don't carry many spares so genrally a 5 week (quoted as 3) wait.

Example, not engine related but front wheel bearings. R980, same part from bearing man R120. And no it is not a different bearing, identical.

Rotax prices are the same worldwide. I have 2 buds in the US that are certified Rotax Repairmen. Have gotten prices from them before for various different parts and when currency converted, works out basically the same as what I would pay here.

The question remains WHO MAKES THE MONEY? Rotax or their agents? In other words, what is the agent`s markup on a 912 ? 15%, 30%, 100% ?

The Radiator Cap 922070 can be purchased from California Power Systems at $80-00 and the thermostat 922511 for $95-00. Please understand that these parts are expensive from Rotax and that we do not mark our parts up ridiculously high.
