Trike hangarage within 30km of Rand Airport
Can any of you wise ones please let me know if there is hangarage available for a trike around the east rand. I am well aware of Panorama & Circus, they both fit into the radius. I wouldl ike hangarage as close to Bedfordview as possible. Can you guys also give me an idea of cost & facilities too, I am much closer to my trike, selling all the big toys & getting back into what I was doing in 1984, flying for pleasure.

Nope, but am looking at an Aquilla 582 combo. I will need guidance with the selection cos I am a vettie & would like to fly 2 up at our density altitude. I am also open to input from the sages, boodle coming next week & Jan. I think the Aquilla is possibly a good choice cos they move fast when selling, meaning in my mind that they are desirable trikes. I cannot wait to get back to real flying, I have enjoyed my blik times but it has become so expensive, what with mpi's AD's SB's amo bills etc, I can fly with the wind in my hairless dome, go out & buy myself a baby grower for winter & haul out the old motorcycle gloves for winter etc. I am envious of the guys flying coastwise now, I should have done this 6 months ago. Watch this space, I am planning to fly my trike down to Port Alfred over the easter weekend next year & back, something vastly different in a 200kt machine to a 50kt machine, but it will take a week cos I will kuier plenty along the way & know that I will enjoy myself immensly. The convex worries me a bit with the old adage of reverse control inputs, but I think I can do the transition in about 10 hrs dual. I have loads of 3 axis hrs, at least 1000 of which have never been logged, I do not chase hrs, rather giving control to another pilot during flight, I am not an instructor.

Brakpan, Springs, Petit?
If you really want to go long distance you kind of have to consider the GT450 style stuff

Nuts about Cheetahs. Petit is the place.

Brakkies is a no no for trikes. Must be transponder equipped to go in there.
Tedderfield also maybe an option, as is Klipriver.
Panorama would be first choice, but Petit is picking up since Hugo too over... Petit, Bab's & Microland also not that far on R21...

I personally prefer Petit. At least you have some options in engine out situations compared to some of the other fields. Road Traffic going there and back is very light and yes the field is in for a revival since the old man has been bought out. The quality of the hangars are also quite nice and when we had a trike there never had any issues. Andy is an AP there so also easy when your inspection is up. Because it is grass it doesn't eat your tyres so much and that field has excellent drainage. Even with some serious rain so far this year there hasn't been a morning that we couldn't fly even after heavy rains. Of course air traffic is also not congested most of the time so it's relaxed flying. Quite central to a lot of other places too. Only thing is that you will get good at cross wind landings. No cross runway, but then that makes you a better pilot anyway isn't it?
